How does solar pool heating work?
Solar pool heating uses your existing pool pump to circulate water through solar collectors mounted on a roof or rack. As water passes through the collectors, energy from the sun warms it before it returns to the pool. The system runs whenever the pump is on and sunlight is available, and it uses no fuel to produce heat. Results depend on climate, roof exposure, collector area, and pool conditions.

How much warmer can a solar pool heater make my pool?
A properly sized solar pool heating system can bring pool water well above the temperature an unheated pool reaches on its own, and hold it there for weeks longer at each end of the season. How much warmer depends on your climate, available sunlight, collector area relative to pool surface, and whether you use a pool cover, which keeps the heat you’ve gained from escaping overnight. In most climates, a correctly sized SunLink Pro system is designed to keep a pool comfortably swimmable for 6–10 months of the year, compared with the 3–4 months an unheated pool typically offers.*

How much does it cost to run a solar pool heater?
SunLink Pro uses energy from the sun rather than purchased fuel to heat your pool. Water circulates through the collectors using your pool’s existing circulation system, so there is no natural gas or propane fuel cost associated with producing the heat.

What makes SunLink Pro different from other solar pool heaters?
SunLink Pro combines an integrated, tool-free panel connection with five interchangeable panel lengths. Instead of joining collectors with separate rubber couplers and hose clamps, the Integrated Link System™ is molded directly into each panel. The modular 24-inch-wide design also makes it easier to build an array around different roof shapes and available roof space.

Can I install SunLink Pro myself?
Yes. SunLink Pro is designed with DIY installation in mind. Panels align and twist together without hose clamps, rubber couplers, or PVC glue between collectors. Complete DIY kits include the panels, mounting hardware, and plumbing components needed for a properly sized system.

How many SunLink Pro panels do I need?
System size depends on your pool surface area, climate, roof orientation, available roof space, and desired swimming season. If you’re unsure, Solar Pool Supply offers a free system design based on your pool and roof dimensions.

Will SunLink Pro work on my roof?
SunLink Pro was designed for flexibility across different roof layouts. Its 24-inch-wide collectors are available in five interchangeable lengths, allowing different sizes to be combined within the same array to work around hips, valleys, dormers, and other roof obstacles.

Can I mix different SunLink Pro panel lengths in the same system?
Yes. All five SunLink Pro panel lengths use the same Integrated Link System™, allowing different lengths to connect within the same array. This makes it possible to use available roof space more efficiently without requiring a single uniform panel length.

Do solar pool heater panels need to be winterized?
In climates where freezing temperatures occur, the system must be protected: either complete gravity drainage whenever the pump stops, or an automated control system with active freeze protection enabled whenever temperatures may fall below 40°F (4.4°C). Freeze damage is excluded from warranty coverage. Follow the installation and winterization instructions for your specific SunLink Pro configuration.

How long are SunLink Pro panels covered by warranty?
SunLink Pro includes a 15-year / lifetime limited warranty — the longest in the solar pool heating industry. Years 1–15 cover 100% of the affected collector. From year 16 through the lifetime of the original collector, a credit equal to 50% of the then-current published MSRP applies. The warranty is non-transferable and applies to the original purchaser and original installation. Labor, roof access, removal, reinstallation, and freight are excluded.
