It took two of us to put the reel together and mount it. I purchased the portable reel. The solar blanket rolled up evenly and smoothly. Covering the pool was just as easy. I wish it had a way to lock the reel, but that's a small thing. I think it will be a good investment.

This is easy IF you already know how to do it. If not, it takes many hours to: make sure you get the cover sized, the aluminum pole at the right length, the straps holding the cover at the right lengths and drilled into the pole correctly, etc. At the end of the day the cover is very simple to use and effective, but putting it together is not simple. I always thought measure twice, cut once but still had to redo several things.

It was a bit of a job to assemble this product. It does work very well, is made of high quality materials, and seems like it would last a lifetime. The only fault I would list is that the brakes on the wheels (and the wheels themselves) are plastic, which feel like they might break if I push the brake to firmly. Easy roll up of the cover, easy to maneuver around the pool deck even with weight on it. One person job.

We bought the reel system and cover over a month ago. We are still trying to get it completed. We have spent over 30 man hours on the project so far. I was told it was fairly simple to do, but it’s not. I also have doubts that the materials will hold up to the heat and extreme humidity here.

We made the decision to only source the best products in this category and avoid the cheaper alternatives that only last a few years. These are more expensive; however, they are built to last. The GeoBubble pool covers are manufactured to last up to 8 years, the Rocky Reels are warranted for up to 10 years.
