Fit & sizes

Will it fit your existing system? Here’s how to tell.

Look at how your panels join each other. The connection tells you which replacement panel you need; the measurements below tell you which size.

Which size do you have?

Header sizeMeasure the opening inside the end of the header pipe. 1.5″ inside is 1.9″ outside; 2″ inside is 2.375″ outside.

Two things decide the panel you order: the header size, which has to match your connection, and the length. Measure the panel you’re replacing:

  1. Header size: the opening inside the header pipe — the main pipe along the top and bottom of the panel. Measure it at the end of the header. If you can only get to the outside, 1.9″ outside is the 1.5″ header and 2.375″ outside is the 2″ header.
  2. Length: from the outside edge of the top header to the outside edge of the bottom header.
  3. Width: the distance from end to end of the main header pipe — not just the veins (riser tubes).

Match your length to the measured length column and choose the header size above. Every model on this page is 4 feet wide; a 2-foot-wide model is sold separately. If your measurement doesn’t land on a row, send us a photo and the numbers and we’ll confirm the size.

Want more heat from the system you already have? Add a panel.

An added panel installs like a replacement and joins the row you already have — the panel ships with its hose connectors, and a panel installation kit supplies the mounting brackets and clamps. Size the whole system rather than the addition: the sizing guide works from your pool’s surface area, how much of the year you want to swim, and the panel size you have now. Starting a new row also takes a row installation kit; ask us what your layout needs.

Inside SwimEasy

An upgrade, not just a replacement.

Chances are, SwimEasy is engineered better than the panel it’s replacing — more heat captured, freer flow, and design decisions built around decades of daily rooftop expansion and contraction.

Two SwimEasy panels joined at the headers by rubber hoses and stainless hose clamps
Universal mounting system

Free-floating mounts let the panel expand and contract without stressing the panel, the anchors, or your roof — and they place anywhere along the header, so they work with your existing anchor points.

Over-molded header

One solid piece with no weld joints to fail and no flow restrictions — water moves freely and the panel drains completely, extending service life.

Flexible zip joints

Expansion joints every 6 inches let panel sections move independently — critical where trees, chimneys, or roof lines cast partial shade across the panel.

Tube-on-fin absorber

Fin webbing between each tube collects heat alongside the tubes themselves — more absorption per square foot means more heat in your pool.

Before you order

You've got questions. We've got answers.

Will a SwimEasy replacement panel fit my existing system?

If your panels join with rubber hoses and metal hose clamps and have round 1.5″ or 2″ I.D. headers, yes — that covers most panels installed over the past few decades, across brands, FAFCO and Techno Solis among them. Match the header size and the length of the panel you’re replacing, and install it with the appropriate hardware. Not sure what you have? Send us a photo of the connection and the panel size and we’ll confirm the fit before you order. Systems that join panels with a clamp and no hoses use a different connection. For SwimJoy or SunStar, see the SwimJoy panel and its fit requirements; for Heliocol, send us a photo of the connection and your panel size and we’ll help you find the right option.

Will SwimEasy replace a FAFCO, Techno Solis, or Heliocol panel?

FAFCO and Techno Solis: yes. Both join with rubber couplers and stainless hose clamps on round 1.5″ or 2″ I.D. headers — match the header size and the length you’re replacing. Heliocol: no. Heliocol panels join with a clamp and no hoses, which is a different connection. Send us a photo of the connection and your panel size and we’ll help you find the right option. Other brands: go by the joint. Rubber hoses and metal clamps on round headers means SwimEasy fits; a snap-together clamp with no hose means SwimJoy (SwimJoy is also a direct replacement for SunStar). Not sure? Send us a photo of the connection and we’ll confirm before you order.

How do I measure my header size?

Measure the inside opening of the manifold — the main pipe at the top and bottom of your existing panel. An inside diameter of 1.5″ corresponds to a 1.9″ outside diameter; 2″ inside corresponds to 2.375″ outside. Unsure? Call us before ordering and we’ll confirm it with you.

How do I know which panel length to order?

Order the size on your original order if you have it. Otherwise measure the panel from the outside edge of the top header to the outside edge of the bottom header and match it to the measured lengths in the Fit & sizes table above. If your measurement doesn’t land on a row, send us a photo and the numbers and we’ll confirm the size.

Do I need new mounting hardware?

We recommend replacing old hardware with new when swapping out an old panel. New hardware assures your new panel stands up against the elements and lasts the full service life. The Panel Installation Kit above covers one panel and matches your header size; add the High-Wind supplement in storm-wind climates, which also needs one high-wind row kit per row. Roof fasteners and sealant aren’t supplied — pick those up at a hardware store for your roof type, or ask us what your roof needs.

Can I add panels to extend my swim season?

Yes. Size the whole system rather than the add-on — the sizing guide works from your pool’s surface area, how much of the year you want to swim, and the panel size you already have. Each added panel will need a panel installation kit to provide you with the hardware for mounting and securing the new panel to your existing system. You may also need some additional tie-down strapping if you don’t have any left over from your original install. Starting a new row requires a row installation kit as well. See Add a Panel above, or let our free system design map it for you.

What’s included?

One SwimEasy solar pool heater panel in the length and header size you select, with four heavy-duty rubber hose connectors. Hose clamps, mounting brackets, and row plumbing are sold separately.

What about freeze-prone climates?

Drain down before freezing. Where freezing occurs, the system is installed so the panels drain when the pump shuts off, as the installation manual requires; if your roof or equipment layout can’t drain completely on its own, automation systems with freeze protection are available — call and speak with one of our installation specialists for assistance. SwimEasy’s warranty covers the collector against the effects of freezing weather when it’s installed according to the manual.

When does a full kit make more sense than single panels?

It depends on how many panels you’re replacing and how much of the hardware needs replacing with them. Replacing two? The SwimEasy 2-pack bundles two panels with eight connectors. The SwimEasy DIY kit bundles panels with mounting hardware, strapping, and row connections; single panels make sense when the other panels, mounting, and plumbing in your system are in good shape. Ask us and we’ll compare the two for your system, or request a free system design.

What does the warranty cover?

SwimEasy panels are covered by Solar Pool Supply’s 10-Year Limited Warranty when installed in accordance with the installation manual. For the first five years from purchase, a panel with a defect in materials or workmanship — including failure from freezing weather, corrosion, or scale in its water passages — is repaired or replaced at no charge for the part. From year six through year ten, a defective panel is replaced for 50% of the list price in effect at the time, or a repair option is provided free of charge. Labor, removal, and shipping aren’t covered, and the warranty applies to the original purchaser and installation in North America. Read the full terms →
